Overview

This Project Technician completes the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of voice, video and data cabling systems in varying project settings, including commercial / industrial buildings, multi-dwelling units, hotels, and educational settings. The Project Technician is a key member of the project execution team. This position must adhere strictly to criteria as established in End 2 End’s Quality Assurance and Safety standards manuals, and is responsible to support the entire project team in their goal of successful delivering every project on time, under budget, and exceeding customer expectations.

Position Requirements:

  • Must possess a reliable working vehicle for transportation to and from project jobsites (car, truck, or SUV), that meets state law and Company standards for roadworthiness
  • Must provide and keep current driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance on file with administration at all times, issued for and by the state in which the vehicle is operated; driver’s license must be in good standing at all times
  • Must be able to work a varying work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays Schedule flexibility is strictly required as occasional last-minute change in work days and/or the addition of a work day outside of standard schedule will take place
  • Drug-free workplace includes pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Must pass an initial and then annual background check through the Company’s chosen provider; provider and requirements are subject to change at Company’s discretion
  • Must have valid local driver’s license with good DMV / MVD record

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent or equivalent work experience
Soft Skills
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees, vendors, and clients
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Strong task execution and time management skills
Software, Tools & Equipment
  • Daily use of a tablet device is required for this position; familiarity and experience with using tablet / mobile devices is required
  • Proficient with sending and receiving emails, using Internet browsers and a basic knowledge of varying computer operating systems
  • Proficient at the use of basic hand tools, ladders, drills

Preferred Experience

Candidates with any of the below are preferred:

  • Recent experience working within the cable and / or telecom industry
  • Associate’s degree, technical certification, or any other education beyond high school, in a related field
  • Safety certifications including OSHA 10-Hour, 30-Hour, Aerial Lift Certifications, et al
Project Technician Level I Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Physically install Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and
  • Install outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors, and light crimp connectors
  • Accurately test copper and fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment as required
  • Diagnose and correct copper problems
  • Remove abandoned or replaced cables
  • Maintain and reference industry standards
  • Perform cable splices for copper cable
  • Contribute as a member of a project team, working to mitigate problems and working to be an equal team contributor at all times
Project Technician Level II Position:
  • Basic Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems
  • Terminate, assemble and install optical fiber ST and/or SC ceramic connectors
  • Diagnose and correct basic optical fiber problems
  • Perform very basic site surveys under the guidance of the lead technician, read and use blueprints and floor plan and conduct visual site inspections
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures, and balance video equipment
  • Perform cable splices for copper and optical fiber (mechanical and fusion)
